The CFW COP members were surveyed last month. Eighty-five percent of respondents said they use social media to engage their clientele. The COP Facebook (www.facebook.com/climateforestswoodlands)and Twitter (@CFW_COP) accounts are promising avenues of sharing new and important climate adaptation information quickly to a large audience. Three quarters of respondents said they already use or will use the COP Facebook page. The five posts achieving the greatest reach by our social media efforts over 3+ months were:
- a Washington Post article on the Pope’s Encyclical,
- an article on climate action in California from a Greenbiz.com,
the 2015 hurricane season link to El Nino from Thinkprogress.org, - economic impact of the CA drought from Climatecentral.org and
- a piece on the six top concerns of climate scientists from an EDF.org blog indicating interest in information from a wide variety of sources.
Recently the CFW COP also connected with the social media accounts of the Southeast Regional Climate Hub, the PNW Climate Hub, Urban Trees for Energy Conservation, Southern Regional Extension Forestry and PINEMAP, among others. As these partnerships grow synergistically, the reach of all organizations will expand.
